New funding available to strengthen community food supports
The provincial government is launching a new initiative to support organizations in addressing food insecurity across Prince Edward Island.
The Community Food Fund will provide up to $10,000 in financial assistance to eligible organizations, or individuals partnering with community-based organizations. This funding is meant to support the purchase of food for clients of services such as:
- Food banks
- Community fridges
- Food cupboards
- Food pantries
- Food hampers
“Food insecurity affects far too many Islanders, and no one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. This fund is about more than just financial support, it’s about standing with our communities, empowering local organizations, and making sure every Islander has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.”
- Barb Ramsay, Minister of Social Development and Seniors
Applicants must submit a completed application form, which includes organizational details, service delivery information, and a proposed spending plan. Only one application per organization will be accepted.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025.
