Traffic delays expected during Grand Fondo cycling event

Motorists are advised of the PEI Gran Fondo cycling event that will be taking place throughout Queens County. 

Dates: 

August 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic:

Traffic lights at the intersection of Trans-Canada Highway and Stratford Road may be temporarily shut off and traffic through this intersection will be directed by traffic control personnel.   

Event participants will cross Hopeton Road and the Trans-Canada Highway and use the active transportation trail to cross the Hillsborough Bridge to Charlottetown.   

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use caution when traveling in the area.

Safety: 

  • Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
  • Reduce speed in the area. 
  • Obey flaggers and signs.
  • Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.
