TechNTalk sessions return to support older Islanders with digital literacy skills
Free information and technology sessions aimed at empowering older Islanders to learn more about their technological devices returns for a third year, starting next month.
TechNTalk sessions will be offered across the province from June until October. At each TechNTalk session, older adults (55 years and over) will receive a short presentation about technology, followed by one-on-one support from volunteers. The sessions focus on everyday technology like cellphones, tablets, and laptops as well as tips on using social media and the internet.
“TechNTalk is a great way for older adults to build confidence with everyday technology and stay connected with the people and services that matter most to them,” said Minister of Social Development and Seniors Barb Ramsay. “These sessions offer a friendly, supportive space to learn new skills, ask questions and share experiences. I encourage everyone to register for a session in a community near them.”
To register for yourself, or on behalf of someone, contact the TechNTalk Program Coordinator at 902-218-2051 or seniors@gov.pe.ca.
The department is also seeking student volunteers for the sessions. For any high school and post-secondary students who are interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity, please contact the TechNTalk Program Coordinator at 902-218-2051 or seniors@gov.pe.ca.
