Stay in the loop for 2026 road construction season
As construction ramps up across the Island this year, motorists should plan ahead and stay informed about road projects and traffic impacts.
Motorists can use government’s online resource Stay in the loop, Plan Your Routeto stay up to date on upcoming road and bridge construction projects and plan their travel more easily. They can also receive road construction alerts by text or email by creating a free account on the province’s 511 service and adding their most travelled routes.
“As construction season begins, we’re focused on providing motorists with the information they need for smoother, more predictable commutes. By sharing clear and up‑to‑date information, we help Islanders, businesses, and visitors make informed plans. This approach reduces disruption, supports smoother travel, and ensures a safe and reliable road system for everyone.”
- Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Ernie Hudson.
Stay in the Loop, Plan Your Route was launched in 2025 to help motorists stay informed about construction projects by county. It also offers free trip‑planning tools, instructional videos, and other helpful information on highway safety and infrastructure improvements.
PEI 511 is a free travel information service available by phone, mobile device, or computer. Instructions on how to use it can be found on the PEI government’s YouTube channel.
PEI’s road construction season typically begins after the May long weekend and runs through early November.
