Statement by Minister Hudson on lobster season opening

Minister of Fisheries, Rural Development and Tourism Ernie Hudson issued the following statement:

“The spring lobster season is an important time for Prince Edward Island, and I want to thank our fishers, processors and everyone involved in the industry for the work they do.

Lobster fishing is deeply rooted in our coastal and rural communities. It supports Island families and plays a major role in our economy and way of life.

Prince Edward Island lobster is known around the world for its quality, and that reputation comes from the care and effort put in every day, from the water to the processing line.

As the season gets underway, I encourage all crews to keep safety in front of mind and to continue the responsible practices that help protect this resource for years to come.

I wish everyone a safe and successful season.”
