Province announces new Acadian Heritage Month Fund

Island not-for-profit organizations (NPOs) can now access new funding to offer community activities that celebrate Acadian heritage.

As part of the province’s ongoing commitment to support the Island’s Acadian and francophone community, the new Acadian Heritage Month Fund (AHMF) provides a total of $20,000 in financial assistance to NPOs that deliver community activities that celebrate Acadian culture, heritage, and traditions.

Applicants can submit their proposals online, and successful proponents will each receive up to $3,500 to go towards eligible costs for community events.

“PEI’s Acadian and francophone community has a rich history that deserves to be better known from tip to tip by both residents and visitors. The Acadian Heritage Month Fund, coupled with the proclamation of August as Acadian Heritage Month, is an initiative I am proud to put forward as part of our commitment to this dynamic and vibrant community. I would encourage any Island NPOs organizing Acadian heritage related community activities to submit an application. We all stand to benefit from these community events.”
- Minister responsible for Acadian and Francophone Affairs Zack Bell
