Prince Edward Island recognizes Early Childhood Educators Week
Thousands of families across the province benefit every day from the care and dedication of early childhood educators, whose essential work supports Island children during their earliest years of growth and learning.
From February 2-6, Early Childhood Educators (ECE) week celebrates the dedicated professionals who create safe, welcoming, and enriching learning experiences for children from infancy to school entry.
“People who work in early learning and child care play a vital role in the lives of children and families across our province. Their care and dedication support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing, and I encourage Island residents to take time this week to recognize the ECE’s in their lives.”
— Minister of Education and Early Years, Robin Croucher
Those interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education are encouraged to explore training and professional development opportunities, including the Steps to Success program, or by contacting the Early Childhood Development Association of PEI (ECDA) for more information.
“Early childhood educators and child care staff foster curiosity, build confidence, care for little hearts, and help lay the foundation for lifelong learning. Having the Province of PEI formally proclaim ECE Appreciation Week shines an important light on the vital work of our early learning and child care sector. We extend our thanks to all Island ECEs and child care staff for the essential role they play in supporting children, families, and communities across PEI.”
— executive director, Early Childhood Development Association of PEI, Jennifer Nangreaves
