Lane closures planned for Hillsborough Bridge
Lane closures will be in place on the Hillsborough Bridge in Charlottetown so crews can install temporary access platforms on the bridge piers.
The closure times have been scheduled to help maintain smoother traffic flow during peak travel periods, particularly as traffic from Stratford to Charlottetown is typically heavier before 9:30 a.m.
Dates:
Inbound (Stratford towards Charlottetown) lanes:
May 25 and May 26
9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Single lane closures in effect
Outbound (Charlottetown towards Stratford) lanes:
May 27 and May 28
6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Single lane closures in effect
Active Transportation corridor closures:
The AT Corridor on the western side of the bridge will be closed intermittently on May 27 and May 28 during steel hoisting operations. These closures are expected to last no more than five minutes at a time.
Traffic:
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan alternate routes where possible. Pedestrians are advised to use caution and follow posted signage.
Safety:
- Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
- Reduce speed in the area.
- Obey flaggers and signs.
- Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.
