Input wanted on Chronic Pain Strategy

The province is asking Islanders for input to help shape its first Chronic Pain Strategy to improve access to care and support for people living with long-term pain.

Chronic pain affects roughly one in five Canadians and has wide-ranging impacts on quality of life, families, and the health system. PEI’s draft five-year strategy focuses on three priorities: recognizing chronic pain as a provincial health priority in PEI, improving timely and equitable access to care, and ensuring the public knows how to access available resources.

“We know that chronic pain affects people in different ways and the best way to get this right is by listening. “We want to hear from Islanders who live with chronic pain, their families, and health care providers so we can build a strategy that reflects real experiences and needs.”

- Minister of Health and Wellness Cory Deagle
