Free workshops help older Islanders connect with financial benefits and support
PEI residents aged 55 and older are invited to attend a series of free workshops to learn about financial programs, benefits, and services that can help make everyday life a little bit easier.
Whether planning for the future, looking for information for a loved one, or simply wondering what support may be available, these workshops provide practical information about programs and an opportunity to ask questions in a welcoming setting.
“These workshops are a chance to connect with knowledgeable staff, get answers to questions, and learn about supports that can make a real difference in everyday life. We want Islanders to feel informed, supported, and confident they’re accessing the programs and services that can help them live well and remain independent.”
- Minister of Social Development and Seniors Barb Ramsay
Four Seniors’ Financial Workshops will be held in communities across PEI throughout October and November. Representatives from the Department of Social Development and Seniors, Service Canada, and the Provincial Credit Union will share information on federal programs such as Old Age Security and the Canadian Dental Care Plan, as well as provincial supports including the Seniors Independence Initiative.
“These workshops are a wonderful opportunity for seniors to come together, learn something new, and find out what supports may be available to them,” said President of the PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation Barbara Wright MacKenzie. “We encourage seniors from across the Island to attend, ask questions, and take advantage of the resources that can help them enjoy a fuller, more independent life.”
