Independent review of the Byron Carr murder investigation

The minister of Justice and Public Safety has ordered a review of the Byron Carr murder investigation.

The minister has directed, pursuant to the Police Act, that an independent review of the Byron Carr murder investigation be undertaken and that the Office of the Police Commissioner appoint a third party for this purpose.

“This is a troubling situation for all those involved, particularly the friends and family of the late Mr. Carr. The community deserves answers, and we need to ensure public confidence in our justice system. The resulting report and recommendations from this independent third-party review will be made public.”
