Island drivers have until May 31 to remove studded tires from their vehicles.

Studded tires are only permitted between October 1 and May 31 each year. Extended use can damage highway markings and create ruts that collect water.

Drivers could face fines of up to $150 if they use studded tires in the off season.

Islanders are asked to do their part to prevent unnecessary wear and tear on Island roads and their tires.
