Children’s Summer Food Program now open for registration
The Children’s Summer Food Program is now open for registration for families who may need additional support over the coming months.
The program is primarily intended for families currently receiving financial support through social assistance or assured income programs. Families who are not enrolled in these programs but are experiencing financial hardship or food insecurity may complete a registration form to apply.
“Summer should be a time for children to relax and enjoy, not a time for families to worry about putting food on the table. This program helps ensure Island children continue to have access to healthy meals, while providing meaningful support to families who need it.”
— Barb Ramsay, Minister of Social Development and Seniors
Precooked, frozen meals that can be reheated are available throughout July and August for Island families with school-aged children. Registration is required, and meals will be delivered across the province.
The program runs from July 8 to September 2, 2026, with deliveries taking place every Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Each registered child will receive seven frozen meals per delivery. For food safety reasons, someone must be present to accept the delivery, as meals cannot be left unattended.
Visit Children’s Summer Food for more information and to register.
