New Montague paramedic station to support emergency health services
Construction is underway on a new paramedic station in Montague that will strengthen emergency response and patient care in Kings County by providing paramedics with modern space, equipment, and infrastructure.
Through the Emergency Health Services agreement with Island EMS, paramedic services in Montague will relocate to a new 4,440 square-foot facility once construction is complete. It will replace the existing 2,640 square-foot building and provide expanded space for emergency operations, including vehicle storage and drive-through bays. It will also provide a shared space for the Mobile Mental Health program.
“The new Montague station will provide paramedics with a modern facility designed to support their work, wellbeing and ability to respond safely and efficiently when Islanders need care. By almost doubling the size of the current station, we are creating additional space to support emergency response operations and the growing needs of the communities they serve.”
- Minister of Health and Wellness Cory Deagle
The new station will include a backup generator to keep essential services running during extended emergencies, as well as a dedicated space for staff meetings and training.
“This investment will make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day work of our paramedics,” said Island EMS paramedic chief and general manager James Orchard. “The additional space will allow us to better accommodate our crews, vehicles and equipment, while creating an environment where staff can prepare for calls, decompress between responses and return ready to serve. We’re pleased to see this important project move forward for our teams and Island communities.”
This project builds on the paramedic station in O’Leary, which opened in 2025. Together, these investments are helping modernize the facilities that enable paramedics and support staff to deliver emergency health services across the province. Construction of the Montague station is expected to be completed in Spring 2027.
