Opening doors, fostering futures during Foster Family Appreciation Week
During Foster Family Appreciation Week, October 19-23, the province recognizes and celebrates the invaluable contributions of foster families across Prince Edward Island.
Foster families play a special role in helping children and youth feel safe and cared for when they need it the most, a message reflected in the province’s Open Doors, Foster Futures recruitment campaign. By opening their hearts and homes, foster families help shape brighter futures while gaining meaningful and rewarding relationships of their own.
“Our government recognizes the deep compassion, dedication, and commitment it takes to be a foster family. Foster families provide children and youth in our province with safe, nurturing, and caring environments during challenging times. Their kindness and support make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and their families.”
- Minister of Social Development and Seniors Barb Ramsay
The province is always looking for caring, compassionate, and skilled individuals and families who are willing to open their homes and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and youth. Through its Open Doors, Foster Futures campaign, the province encourages more Islanders to learn about fostering and the positive impact they can have on a child’s future.
Those interested in fostering children and youth can attend an information session in Charlottetown or Summerside over the next three months.
