New funding available through Anti-Racism Grants

Applications are open for the 2026-2027 Anti-Racism Grants with a total of $275,000 in funding available.

The grant program supports large-scale projectsthat help address systemic racism, strengthen organizations, improve knowledge of racial unfairness, and create real, measurable change in Prince Edward Island.

Eligible projects must align with one or more of the following goals: 

  • Making changes to policies, practices, governance and organizational structures to remove barriers and address systemic racism 
  • Strengthening the ability of organizations and public institutions to advance anti-racism efforts
  • Empowering BIPOC communities by building partnerships, advocating for change and leading community-led research
  • Working to end systemic racism by bringing people together to take action and build community power 

  • Strengthening BIPOC community networks, leadership, and involvement in public life and decision-making

     

Projects may advance one or more of the following priority areas:

  • Reduce systemic racial barriers in institutions and services
  • Reform organizational governance and practices
  • Collect and analyze race-based data to better understand outcomes for different groups
  • Build organizational capacity to better support racialized and Indigenous communities
  • Address hate incidents and hate-related racism
  • Reduce harm against racialized and Indigenous women and gender-diverse people

Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on October 23, 2026.

Participants were often in awe to discover that Black people are not new to the Island; we were here before Confederation.”
