July proclaimed Automotive Heritage Month
July has been declared Automotive Heritage Month in Prince Edward Island by Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Ernie Hudson, with July 10 designated as Car Collector Appreciation Day.
For eighteen years, antique vehicle owners across Prince Edward Island have been celebrating Automotive Heritage Month to recognize the importance of antique cars and their collectors.
“Recognizing the heritage and influence of automobiles highlights the important role they have played in shaping travel, the economy and our way of life. This July, I encourage Islanders and visitors to take part in many of the exciting events taking place across the province.”
-Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Ernie Hudson
PEI Antique Car Club members will participate in events Island-wide showcasing their vehicles while raising funds for local charities and non-profit organizations.
Some automotive events in July include:
- Car show at Richmond Dairy Bar - Tuesdays
- Cars and Coffee in Sherwood - Wednesdays
- Car show in Wood Islands – Thursdays
- Classic Car Night in Summerside – Fridays
- Car show in Brudenell – July 3 to July 5
“Heritage vehicles tell the story of where we’ve come from,” said Troy Handren with the PEI Antique Car Club. “Restoring and caring for them lets us celebrate that history while preserving it for future generations. The province’s support of antique car collectors is deeply appreciated.”
