Statement by Minister Deagle on National Physicians’ Day

Minister of Health and Wellness Cory Deagle issued the following statement:

“Today, on National Physicians’ Day, we recognize the exceptional leadership, compassion, and dedication of physicians across Prince Edward Island who care for Islanders with skill, humanity, and unwavering commitment.

Whether providing care at the bedside, guiding teams, or supporting patients behind the scenes, physicians continue to keep their focus on providing high-quality care to Islanders.

Their work is integral to the health and wellbeing of the people in our Island communities and to a strong, resilient health system.

We are proud to have welcomed 41 new physicians to PEI in 2025, with 10 more already joining so far this year, marking meaningful progress in strengthening our health workforce.

These new physicians, along with all physicians across the province, are helping to expand access to care, support growing communities, and ensure Islanders receive timely, high-quality medical care no matter where they live.

To every physician, thank you for the profound difference you make in the lives of Islanders every day.”
