Traffic detour in Little Sands during Route 4 bridge work
Motorists will be detoured through Little Sands, east of Wood Islands, during the replacement of a bridge on Route 4 (Shore Road).
The existing bridge has reached the end of its service life.
Dates:
Monday, May 4, with construction expected to be completed by September, 2026.
Traffic:
Only local traffic will be permitted until construction is finished. Drivers are asked to obey signs and follow the posted detour route on Shore Road, County Line Road, Route 348 (Livingston Road), and Route 4.
Safety:
- Traffic should reduce speed and be prepared to stop.
- Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
- Reduce speed in the area.
- Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.
