Province announces leadership change at Health PEI

The Government of Prince Edward Island today announced a leadership change at Health PEI and the appointment of Laurae Kloschinsky as interim Chief Executive Officer of Health PEI, effective immediately. 

Melanie Fraser, who has served as Chief Executive Officer of Health PEI, will be departing the role. 

“Melanie helped advance important work within Health PEI and supporting efforts to recruit more healthcare professionals to our province. We thank her for her service during a challenging time in our healthcare system.”

Laurae is an experienced senior healthcare executive and pharmacist who has worked closely with healthcare partners and providers across Prince Edward Island to advance innovation and improve access to care for Islanders. She has extensive experience in project and change management, communication strategies, technology implementation, and innovation to increase system stability and sustainability.

I have confidence that the leadership team at Health PEI will stay focused on the healthcare priority of Islanders—access to quality healthcare services provided by a dedicated team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals.”

The province will work closely with the Health PEI Board of Directors on an expedited and competitive process for appointing a permanent CEO.
