The first vessel containing wind turbine components for the Eastern Kings Wind Farm Project is now fully offloaded in Georgetown. Beginning May 15, components will be moved from Georgetown to Eastern Kings over multiple days.

Transportation will take place each day after the morning school bus runs are complete. The first morning loads are expected to leave Georgetown at approximately 9am with safety escorts and will take a few hours to travel to site in Eastern Kings. Additional loads will be transported in the early afternoon before the afternoon school bus runs begin.

Disruptions lasting a few minutes can be expected at the Pooles Corner roundabout as loads turn onto Route 4. Drivers should expect delays. Signage, traffic control, and highway escorts will be in place to help minimize disruptions and keep everyone safe. Roadside message boards will be positioned along the route letting motorists and the public know when they may encounter the oversized loads.

Additional components will arrive at the port in Georgetown in late May, with component travel dates announced in advance. More information available at Eastern Kings Phase II Wind Farm Project. Information on traffic impacts is available at 511.gov.pe.ca

The PEI Energy Corporation thanks the public for their patience during this time.
